Re-Wiring Underway

The attic and second floor have been ripped apart today on the first day of the re-wire.

The house is being totally re-wired and by the end we'll be running on 40amps, rather than 6 or 10 amps at the moment. Oscar, the electrician, thinks he'll be finished by the weekend.

Sunday Update - Stud Wall Finished

Today we finished the stud wall that now blocks the doorway between bedrooms 3 and 4.

Spent the rest of the day ripping up carpets, painting the bathroom floor and getting ready for Oscar, the electrician, who starts on Tuesday.

Stud Wall

We're about half way through filling in the doorway between bedrooms 3 and 4.
Just the noggins, insulation and plasterboard to go!
Thanks to mum for my black and decker workmate

Snow in Brussels

Just as well we switched the boiler on this morning - the snow arrived at lunchtime ish

We have heating and hot water

Having spent an agonising two weeks with out gleeming Veissmann Vitodens 200-W waiting to go today we finally managed to have the 'great switch on.'

Almost a Flood!

Last Sunday night we woke up to hear the cellar filling with water! Even though the mains stop-cock came to the rescue we had call on Wayne, our plumber, to fit this Honeywell pressure valve.

Plumbing!!

After many hours of trying to figure out why nothing will go down our kitchen sink and half a bottle of acid later Ed managed to remove the old plumbing.

For a bargain price of €12 I replumbed the sink on Monday - and to my surprise it actually now works!!

We have gas!!

After many hour of stressing over the fitting of our lovely oven we finally with some help from our plumber and gas man Wayne have it working!!

Still some slight issues with the power but at least we can now cook!!

Next thing to do is the electrics!

Moving In

We are now all moved into the house, after a very long day on Saturday.

There is no way we could have done this without our friends help who were superstars, and thanks to Dan and Fizz delivering us lots of lovely new furniture from the UK.

The photo is of Ed and Dan stuck in the stairs with the white sofa that will NEVER be coming back out of the house!!
